Understanding the Challenge
FlowEase had built a powerful productivity platform that was haemorrhaging users at onboarding. Their data showed 67% of new users abandoned the app before completing their first task. The product team knew the problem was UX, but lacked the design capability to fix it systematically.
We were brought in to redesign the entire mobile experience from scratch, not a visual polish, but a fundamental rethinking of how users moved through the app. The constraint: every design decision needed to be testable and validated before development began.
What We Aimed to Achieve
- Reduce onboarding abandonment from 67% to below 20%
- Design a coherent, scalable UI component library
- Improve task completion rate across core user flows
- Create an interactive prototype for user testing before development
- Produce developer-ready handoff documentation
Design Process
Outcome
Post-launch data over the first 60 days showed onboarding completion rates had improved from 33% to 81%, a dramatic turnaround. Task completion rates across core flows increased by an average of 54%. The design system now serves as the single source of truth for FlowEase's product team, enabling faster feature development with consistent quality.
The project demonstrated what we consistently see: most UX problems aren't design problems. They're clarity problems. When users understand what to do next, they do it.
